Those were the words I heard from the citizenship examiner after I passed the test to become an American Citizen!
In a couple of months I’ll go to a ceremony where I’ll officially become “American”. It’s been a long road to this point since Ian and I met in Canada seven years ago.
I’ve had my Permanent Residency Card (green card) for four years now but always wanted to become a citizen since Ian and our two kids are American and this is where we make our home.
The US has been so good to me and I’m grateful and proud to become an American.
Note from Ian: I was so proud of Donna when she walked out of the examiner’s office and flashed that beautiful smile and the tell-tale thumbs up! I went out and bought her an American Flag to commemorate the day. I think when it’s official I’ll throw her a citizenship party. I’ve always thought that she’s the perfect blend of Canadian and American.

Here’s a picture that Darcy took of Martha Stewart and I at the Today Show Wedding.
We were thrilled when we heard that she wanted us to shoot the big event. I can’t help but to be inspired when I’m around such creative energy and talent that Martha, Darcy and her team exhibit.

I’m in NY for a quick visit which is jammed packed with 6 photo shoots over two days. Mixed in with that are a few client meetings as well – what a pace this city keeps!
Ian is excited as this weekend is the International Auto Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center. He keeps reminding me that we’re going this weekend (as if I’ll forget since he’s been talking about it for the past month)!
