I recently directed a commercial for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami. Ian produced the piece and we really had a great time doing it. The thought behind the commercial was to sell the Mandarin's lifestyle - not the rooms etc. We want the viewers to be able to imagine themselves in the video and have them escape to the incredible lifestyle that the hotel offers.
It was a really exciting project to put together. For the aerial scenes we used a nose mount camera. To get the boat scene the pilot flew at 80 mph backwards 30 feet over the boat's hull!
The crew we pulled together was amazing - a total of 15 people gave it 100% that day. The boat was a one of a kind "go fast" boat that was just built 3 days prior to the shoot and shipped down for the job.
The whole piece was shot on the RED camera which is absolutely astounding. It shoots at 4K resolution (4 times HD) and up to 120 frames per second. What that means is that we can go into the video and create full resolution raw photos from any frame of the video and generate a 12 megapixel photo. So not only does the client get a great HD video piece but also a portfolio of photos as well.

| It's been cold all over this winter.... We've been lucky enough to get a few good shooting days recently and just love doing creative projects. Here's a couple of the shots. To see more - go to our website: CLICK HERE Then click on the portfolio section - then the nude tab. |

We keep hearing from our friends and family that they saw me on the Martha Stewart show last week...We knew about it ahead of time and set the TiVo up to record it. We were all set and when we checked the next day it recorded Dora instead! TiVo knew that the Martha Stewart Show would re-run this Sunday so it decided to tape Dora... So we are looking forward to seeing it Sunday on FLN (Fine Living Network).
I'm getting a copy from Darcy and will upload when I receive.

| I just got my hands on the Feb issue of Martha Stewart Living where we have a several page spread. This was from the gallery show that Darcy Miller put on with Kate and Andy Spade. All of the guests sat for portraits and the proceeds went to charity. It's always nice to see the finished layout and enjoy the work. |

We spent two weeks over the break visiting my family in Vancouver. This is a picture that Ian took with his iPhone from our airplane as we were descending - we wish we had our professional camera handy since it was just so picturesque with the tall mountain peaking out from the clouds.
It's always wonderful to have such a nice break and see the family but I definately look forward to the warm South Beach weather...This time it was a shock when after returning to Miami it was colder than Canada! |
